This week we have Pizza Hotline with Level Select from the album of the same name.
I have always skirted the edges of the world of drum and bass / jungle / breakbeat, dipping in here and there and finding pockets I enjoy. Recently, I find myself enjoying more of it and searching it out. Especially the more atmospheric (or “intelligent” as is often referred to) stuff.
This track fits perfectly into that category. Both the track and album are mixes of classic-sounding atmospheric drum and bass with soft synth melodies and wispy textures. The aesthetic is very vapourware and retro gaming. All-in-all a lovely mix of chill and upbeat vibes.
